You have heard how in the long distant past we had people whose job was "Computer". They were people who computed. They worked alongside mathematicians and engineers (I suppose) to make complicated calculations. I suppose they worked with strict numerical problems but also with estimates, or solving equations, or computing distributions and so on.

Now of course a "computer" means something else. It's a piece of equipment that does the same. The "computers" from the previous paragraph don't exist any more, the job is no longer necessary. So we distinguish the two by calling them "human 'computers'".

(As an aside, I like finding examples of words - nouns usually - which make a distinction that was not previously needed - because of the advancement of science and engineering. For example dial telephone and electric car and many other examples.)

What if I am in the last few generations of programmers? That is, humans who take on the onerous task of actually programming - BY HAND! What if the next generations of AI code assistants become so good and reliable that people will no longer be coding. They will be designers, architects, product managers?
