I don’t know if you followed the spat a few months ago. This book, “A million little pieces” by James Frey was chosen by Ms. “O” (Oprah) for her book club. A lot of fanfare, a lot of press. It’s a memoir about one man’s experiences as a totally out of control addict, then joining a rehab program and getting on the road to recovery. The problem is / was that after Oprah made all this fuss about James Frey, it turned out that certain details of the book were fictionalized. It was not exactly clear whether 10%, 20% or what were not from his real life experience....
Continuing my series about my recent trip through 5 National Parks, here’s Capitol Reef. This is a little known National Park in Utah. Interesting cocktail party tidbit (if what the rangers tell us can be believed): in the “old days” the explorers, trappers, and homesteaders tended to use nautical metaphors for land masses, and when they encountered a geographic feature which blocked their passage, stopped their progress, they would refer to it as a “reef.” ...

While I was on vacation I often had an idea pop in my head and feel the urge to write about it my blog. Why, why, why? I think I’ve been writing this blog for over three years. Actually this is a fascinating photo essay of an abandoned city in the Soviet Union, left to gradually die off while the USSR collapsed. When the Soviet Union collapsed, government didn’t have much funds to support some small cities around strategically import objects. People of these cities were left all by themselves. Nobody could support them because any communication with this places terminated after the army decided that they now don’t have money to support those objects.

Curacao has in the past won or gotten very close to winning the overall Little League World Series! So far it looks like the Curacao team has won the Caribean title. Take a look at the standings so far: Little League World Series Standings Oddly enough the way the overall World Series is structured is that the US always makes it to the Semi Finals. Seems a bit rigged don’t you think? At least it’s better than the big leagues where the “World” in “World Series” means US and Canada 🙂
